If you live in a blue state like me, you’re probably familiar with the sight of so-called “Progress” flags flapping outside local businesses. For those of us involved in the fight for sex-and-gender sanity, it can feel very off-putting. Yet they’re so prevalent it’s hard to avoid occasionally patronizing a store that displays one.
I was sitting in my favorite taco bar in Bellingham, WA a couple weeks ago, surrounded by the progress banner: behind the bar, in the window, every direction I looked. I started making a list of the things this flag’s come to represent (primarily “trans rights”) and all the people who might be offended by it. I fantasized about creating a flyer to leave behind for the manager/owner. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I thought “Maybe they simply don’t realize.”
Here is the text of the flyer I came up with. Feel free to copy, edit, share and distribute. And let me know if there’s someone I omitted from the list. There’s always the next draft.

The Progress Flag: Who Does it Alienate?
The Progress flag is touted as inclusive but is in fact deeply controversial. Businesses who display the banner have good intentions yet seem unaware how many people take offense. What are the financial costs for your business? Who is it turning away?
Feminists fighting to preserve their single-sex spaces against the encroachment of men in their sports, prisons, changing rooms and DV shelters.
Parents who lost their children to the social contagion of Trans. These heart-breaking stories are documented by Parents with Inconvenient Truths about Trans on Substack.
Lesbians whose private spaces have been colonized by men-who-would-be-women, including their bars, dating apps, social clubs and music festivals.
Detransitioners (former “trans” folk) who see the flag of the cult they escaped, and are vilified by trans-activists as traitors.
Normies who cringe at the far-left symbolism and the “omni-cause” it represents. Not everyone is as woke as you think.
Scientists and biological realists who know that human sex is real, dimorphic and immutable, and know how babies are made.
Free Speech Advocates who have witnessed the silencing tactics of the trans-activist mob, the cancellations and physical attacks.
Christians who believe God made men and women without error.
Atheists who don’t believe in the magical thinking of gender, with its unproveable assertions about people “born in the wrong body.”
THINK TWICE BEFORE SABOTAGING YOUR BUSINESS WITH THE PROGRESS FLAG. MOST OF US WHO OBJECT TO IT WILL NEVER TELL YOU DIRECTLY.
Your closing paragraph sums it up. It’s not good business practice to promote politics, religion, or ideological beliefs unless you want to alienate a whole demographic.
Oh, yes, please distribute far and wide in Bellingham! I am so tired of the woke signaling! (And I voted Democrat most of my life!)
